Tax and Accounting Rules Every Founder Should Know
Corporate income tax
Profit up to €100,000 is taxed at 9%, the next bracket to €1.5 million at 12% and profit above that at 15%. The return is filed by the end of March for the previous year, and the tax is paid in monthly advances based on the last return.
VAT and e-invoicing
The standard VAT rate is 21% with a 7% reduced rate for selected goods and services. Registration is mandatory above €30,000 annual turnover and voluntary below. Returns are monthly and invoices are issued through the electronic fiscalisation system, which we set up for you.
Payroll for the director
A founder employed as executive director pays social contributions and personal income tax through payroll. This employment is what keeps the residence permit valid, so payroll is filed every month without exception.
Dividends and double taxation
Dividends carry 15% withholding tax, reduced under Montenegro's treaties with more than 40 countries. We check your treaty position, prepare the residency certificates and time distributions to keep the total tax burden predictable.

Accounting Questions
How much does monthly accounting cost?
A fixed monthly fee agreed in writing, based on the number of transactions and employees. Small companies with a single director start at a modest flat rate; we quote before onboarding.

Do I receive reports in English?
Yes. Monthly summaries and annual statements are provided in English, and in Turkish, Russian or German on request.
